We are currently seeking a motivated Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to help build and support custom applications. The ideal candidate would become part of an elite team of other talented software developers assigned to work on various project teams at a Fortune 500 Media company in NYC.  Your strengths in both back-end and front-end development are key(but more focused on back-end).

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Understand our client's fast-moving business requirements 
  • Negotiate appropriate solutions with multiple stake-holders 
  • Write and maintain complex, mission-critical software 
  • Write tests for software written in Ruby and JavaScript 
  • Deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software; contribute technically to projects 
  • Support and troubleshoot issues (process and system) related and implements sustainable corrective actions 
  • Identify new opportunities, tools, and services to enhance the custom software platform 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in software development  
  • Minimal travel required 

 Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Minimum 6 years of software development experience with at least 4 years Ruby on Rails development experience focused on the back end in Ruby.
  • Strong JavaScript skills 
  • Experience developing with at least one major JavaScript library (examples include: jQuery, Angular, Backbone) 
  • Experience with testing libraries such as Rspec and Jasmine 
  • Must be familiar with VCS such as Git, and with Pull-Request/Peer Review processes 
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL 
  • Strong team-building, vendor and customer relations skills 

 Desired Skills & Experience: 

  • Java Development 
  • Experience working within a Continuous Integration environment, such as Jenkins or Travis CI 
  • CSS, SASS and User Interface Design 
  • Angular experience in particular a strong plus
